Facebook has added Zoom and GoToMeeting support to its Portal TV product , so you can fully embrace the work-from-home lifestyle and take meetings from your living room couch.
Facebook has been slowly building out the feature set of its Portal family of video chat devices. In October of last year, it added Netflix to the Portal TV , and the second-generation Portal and the first Portal Mini released back in added WhatsApp calling support alongside more reasonable price tags. I usually join Zoom meetings by clicking on the link sent by the host in the invitation email.
This Facebook Portal Go device has my Zoom app on it, which was installed and set up on this device by me.
When I click on a link sent by an organizer, I do not get the usual dialog as I would on my laptop which offers to open the zoom app, so I click on the link to use my browser instead. This sends me into the hosted meeting with no audio or video. If I click the icon to open sound, I get a prompt to to configure my browser first to allow it to open the microphone.

Meta Store. These takeaways are just about Zoom on the Portal. The speakers, the mics and the camera are all much better than my laptop. So, it is much better for teaching physical full-body skills than a laptop is. For attending a Zoom meeting, it worked very well and I would happily use it again. If I was doing a simple presentation at a Zoom meeting, I could happily use it, possibly supplementing with sharing content from my laptop.
But I could use the Portal to call in to the meeting as a secondary device if I wanted to specifically use it for a demo of a movement-based activity. Overview The Facebook Portal is a video-chatting device. If an app is already open, tap the Home button at the top. Tap the "Apps" icon and scroll until you locate the Zoom app. Tap "Add" to install. Open Zoom. Tap "Allow" when prompted for permissions to record audio and video. You'll be given a six-digit sign-in code.
Open a web browser and navigate to zoom. You'll be taken to your Portal's Zoom dashboard, where you can start or join a meeting right away.
